Chrysler 200 heat not working.

I have a 2012 200 with the 3.6 liter engine with 106,000 miles on it. My issue is that I'm not getting any heat at all in cabin. From what I've read so far it's probably a heater core issue. Don't want to spend $800 to $1000 to replace it. I would like to try flushing it myself first. Where do I start? Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Also having issue getting it into neutral even with the manual release. Definitely not the fob or the battery.
