Fraternity life at UVA is pretty much the same as that at any large, public university. Since I am not involved in Greek life I will not speak out of place but, as everyone below has suggested, the best way to find out whether or not the fraternity life is for you is to just go out to fraternity parties your first semester as often as you can.
