Kawasaki vulcan 800 problems.

Just bought a 9,100 mile Vulcan 800, 2004. At first the engine was rough, have not been started in about 8 months. Took it home cleaned it up. Next day I noticed every time going into 1st gear hot or cold it clunk's, even riding it going into 2nd gear. Anybody out there have this problem with there Kawasaki 800. please let me know thanks. It goes like this, the battery has sufficient charge to energize the starter solenoid, but once the solenoid contacts close and power is supplied to the motor, voltage to the solenoid drops and the contacts open, removing power to the motor.

2000 Vulcan 800 Carburetor issue. When I bought it, it ran long enough to test ride and once around the neighborhood. The bike flooded out and when I took the air filter cover off it was full of fuel. Decided I should clean out the carb and noticed it was full of sediment and the air cut valve could be seen through.There is a sensor switch on the clutch that can become an issue if dirty or broken. The alternator is in the crankcase and blow-by from the piston rings will pressurize the case if it can't vent. I don't know the 800 engine, but a blowup of the engine should show you where the vent is. Good luck.
